Description of services provided for the City of Farmington:

Please call 479-306-7878 (M-F 8 am - 5 pm) to set up service, complaints and missed pickups. 

Regular Household Trash Service: The fee for this service is $13.69 (plus tax) per month billed quarterly in advance. Trash must be placed in trash bags and placed in the trash cart at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your pick-up day. 

Senior Citizen and citizens on Social Security Disability Programs:
Option 1
– A reduced fee of $11.50 (plus tax) per month billed quarterly in advance for regular trash and recycle service is available to those who are 62 years of age or older and citizens on Social Security Disability. Please set up regular service by calling 479-306-7878. After you set up regular service you can apply for this reduced fee at Farmington City Hall with proper identification of date of birth (citizens 62 or older) or a benefit verification printout from Social Security (citizens on Social Security Disability). 
Option 2 – This is a volume base program available to senior citizens 62 years of age or older and citizens on Social Security Disability with (7) seven bags or less of trash each month. This program requires the use of Waste Management’s yellow bags to place your trash in, yellow bags can be purchased at Farmington City Hall, 354 W. Main, Mon. – Fri., 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please set up this service at Farmington City Hall. The cost of the yellow bags includes the cost of the trash service; therefore you will only receive a billing statement quarterly for recycle service of $12.79 plus tax (which is $4.53 a month plus tax). Check or money order are the only forms of payment accepted for bags at City Hall - No cash. Please make check or money order out to Waste Management.

**Both Option 1 and 2 will include recycle service, this is not optional.

Yellow bags are sold in increments of ten. The bags are 35 gallons in size.
10 yellow bags are$12.38
20 yellow bags are $24.26
30 yellow bags are $36.14

Recycle Service: Recyclable items will be picked up the same day as your trash, but by a separate truck. This is not an optional service and is included in the above charge. Option 2 program for senior citizens will be billed quarterly $12.79 plus tax (which is $4.53 a month plus tax).

 

Waste Management's list of recyclable items  

Effective Oct. 1, 2021, Waste Management will no longer provide Yard Waste bags, they will be replacing those with Yard Waste stickers.

  • Stickers will be sold at a 5 sticker minimum, no maximum amount.
  • Price per sticker is $.95
  • Stickers must be attached to customers bag/bundle to be collected.
  • Customers must supply their own 30 gallon-bags, anything over 30 gallons will not be collected due to weight.
  • Stickers will be sold at City Hall, by phone 479-306-7878 or via email at bags@wm.com. Email is quickest response time.
  •  Yard waste pick-up will be on MONDAYS unless otherwise rescheduled due to a holiday.
  •  If you want to dispose of your own yard waste you can take your bagged yard waste to the compost site at the landfill in Tonitown, there will be a charge per bag.  
  • Holidays: The following holidays are observed - Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Service will be suspended on these holidays but Waste Management will make up collection on the next business day following the holiday.

    Billing Information: Waste Management is the sole provider of trash service for the City of Farmington. You will be billed quarterly in advance for trash and recycle service. Payment is due upon receipt and is deemed late is not received within thirty (30) days of the date on statement. Past due customers are subject to suspension of service as well as late fee charges and a reinstatement fee not to exceed $35.00 To change address, setup new service, cancel existing service, or inquire about your service, please call 479-306-7878.

    NOTE: Not paying your bill or not putting trash out does not suffice as cancellation of service.
